Inspections

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting the Fire Marshal’s office regarding your Food Truck Safety Inspection. Our goal is to ensure compliance with Florida’s Fire Prevention Code, and to promote safe working habits for the owners and employees of mobile food vendors serving the citizens of Duval County.
Our office has designated two inspectors to facilitate these inspections. Their contact information is below.
For your convenience, we have also identified two separate locations to perform your future inspections :The Prime Osborn parking lot (1000 Water St.) will have AM (9am-noon) appointments on Monday and PM (noon-3pm) appointments on Wednesday, and the old Regency Square Mall parking lot (Arlington Expressway) will have AM (9am-noon) appointments on Tuesday and PM (noon-3pm) appointments on Thursday.

To initiate your inspection, please completely fill out the form titled “Food Truck Owner Info” and email that form to both Lieutenant Romano at tromano@coj.net and Lieutenant Waters at waters@coj.net along with the preferred location and time (AM or PM, if applicable) for your inspection. Appointments are made in 30-minute intervals, and they are first come, first served.

You will receive a reply email and a CR# for payment of the inspection. The inspection fee is $65.00 and is payable to the City of Jacksonville’s Tax Collectors office by phone at 904-255-8384 or in person to any office.

Once the fee has been paid, forward a copy of the receipt via email to both Lt. Romano and Lt. Waters.

After payment is verified, an appointment will be scheduled, and you will receive an calendar invite by e-mail with a specific date and time. If you don’t receive a calendar invite within a reasonable time frame, normally 24 hours after payment verification, please check your junk email folder and send a follow up email to both Lt. Romano and Lt. Waters.

Attached to your calendar invite will also be an inspection checklist. While this is NOT an all-encompassing document, it will be used to ensure that you are compliant with major provisions found within the Florida Fire Prevention Code.
